What is Guy-Plus?
Guy-Plus is a mechatronics-led Perth business in Balcatta, Western Australia, owner-operated by engineer Kamal Raut since 2019. It does three things that most companies split between three different trades.
1. Heavy lifting. A Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter with a Ferrari 560 truck-mounted crane — 2.4 tonnes, 10 m lift height, about 7 m reach — plus a tilt tray and a custom tipper. Awkward loads go over fences, onto balconies and into tight backyards.
2. Wireless security. Licensed (WA Security Licence 84236) solar and wireless CCTV, smart locks and alarms — no trenching, no monthly fees, footage on your own storage.
3. 3D printing & scanning. Multi-material printing from $2/hr and 0.1 micron scanning for reverse engineering parts you can no longer buy.

A crane truck (often called a Hiab) carries its crane on its own chassis. It drives to site, lifts, and carries the load away in one vehicle. A mobile crane only lifts — it reaches higher and heavier, but needs separate transport, more setup space and usually a bigger bill.
The three numbers that decide it
- Weight — a rough figure is fine. Check the manual, the spec plate or the supplier’s invoice.
- Distance from where the truck can park to where the load must land. Crane capacity drops as the boom extends.
- Height — is it going over a fence, a single-storey roof or up to a balcony?

1. Scan
The original part — even broken — is captured with a 0.1 micron 3D scanner. Pieces can be scanned separately and joined digitally.
2. Model
The scan is cleaned up into a solid CAD model. Worn or broken areas are rebuilt, and the design can be strengthened where it failed.
3. Choose the material
- PLA ($2/hr) — prototypes, indoor parts, display pieces
- ABS / ASA ($5/hr) — heat and UV resistance, outdoor and automotive
- Nylon PA6/PA12, Carbon Fibre ($10/hr) — toughness, wear, load-bearing parts
4. Print and test fit

How high can the Guy-Plus crane lift?
10 metres — roughly three storeys — with about 7 metres of horizontal reach. Enough to place loads over a fence, onto a roof or a first-floor balcony without the truck entering the property.
What is the maximum lifting capacity?
2.4 tonnes close in. Capacity reduces as the boom extends, so tell Guy-Plus the weight and the distance from where the truck can park — you get an exact answer before booking.
What is the tipper innovation on the Guy-Plus truck?
Most crane trucks have a fixed tray. The Guy-Plus Fuso was rebuilt so it also tips — crane, tilt tray and tipper in one. Material in, heavy item placed, waste out, on one visit.
What is the difference between a crane truck, a Hiab and a mobile crane?
A crane truck (Hiab) lifts and carries the load in one vehicle. A mobile crane only lifts — higher and heavier, but more expensive and needing separate transport. Up to 2.4 t within 10 m, a crane truck is faster and cheaper.
